Edinburgh - the jewel in Scotland's crown, UNESCO world heritage site and the first UNESCO city of literature...inspiration for writers such as Sir Walter Scott, Robert Louis Stevenson, Irvine Welsh, Ian Rankin and JK Rowling. Our capital and home to about 500,000 people. Come and take a look...you're all very welcome.

Museum on the Mound? Don't you have a proper hill?;-)))
I do love the pictures of the Old Town (since in the States anything from the 19th century is considered old!)
isabella...fun comment...the Mound is not a proper hill though! it was an artificial link to bridge the Old Town and the New Town...they city is rather hilly though as it is built on 7 hills.
misscipher...glad you're enjoying.

Edinburgh looks like a very interesting city. Nice pictures.

It's looking very warm for Edinburgh in January...
Very nice shot. Can you tell me why are these domes green in colour.
Hi Grant! Long time no SEEEEEEEEEE! ;)
And WOW! I love all the "artwork" on the roofs in your two latest shots!
Maybe we'll get a chance to head up to Scotland next month when hubs and I visit...never know!
Thanks for enticing me!
=)
Well, it looks great from the outside, huh?
free museum, what are you waiting for? wonderful shot !
You're making me homesick for a city that I have only visited once. Spent a few days in Edinburgh at the end of touring around Scotland. Fell in love with Edinburg.
It was the first time anyone from my family had been back there since the original ancestor left Aberdeen in 1600s to find his destiny in the New World.
Thank you for sharing your photos.
Hi Grant, I've never been to Edinburgh but have heard a great deal about it from my brother who returns to do research at Edinburgh University every couple of years. So, it's great to see photos of your city; particularly the old town which is so charming.
Hope you pop into our site at Adelaide Daily Photo and enjoy some of our summer sunshine. It was 40 degrees celsius today (104 F)
Hope you're OK, I'm missing my daily fix of Edinburgh!
I'm so excited to find your blog....We have a group of 30 middle and high school students coming to Edinburg this summer. I'll refer them to your site!

Are the roofs made of copper and have turned green naturally? Nice photographs.

Fun to see the photos. Thank you.
Grant,
Very nice blog. I hope to visit Edinburgh in the future. In the mean time, your photos will have to do. Also giving me ideas of what to visit when I am there.
Thanks
I'm going to visit one day!
I have posted a photo of the missing UK girl Madeleine in the hope that the more people see her, the more chance she may be found. Please take a sec to pop over to Cheltenham, to put her face in your head. Thanks to you and your readers.

Hola amigo! Estoy visitando su blog, incluso muy bello, perfecto ... Tiene una buena noche. Visita mi en cualquier momento
What a lovely capture of tones and contrasts, textures and light.
This is a very primitive and an ancient place which is a travelers destination and it is a place of ancient history and the destination of all the tombs, sacred shrines as well.
I love it! Especially the greenish rooftops. Brings so much memories. :)

Nice way to decorate your walls. I have never done that. My effort to beautify the walls in my house was to order big-sized canvas prints from wahooart.com, from images of western art. I use the same angel motifs in all of the rooms painted by different painters, such as this one by very interesting English artist Stanley Spencer, http://EN.WahooArt.com/A55A04/w.nsf/OPRA/BRUE-8LT7K6.
